|Nov 03, 2004 - Does anyone read these anymore??|
One update a month, thats my goal...
Thanks to everyone who showed up at my Halloween party this year - it turned out really well considering I forgot to invite anyone (except for the invite on rblords - but who reads this crap anyhow?). I was
particularly impressed at all the new faces - namely Wayne/Katrina and company, the UofS Physics crew, Dut, Trevor, and both Cayleys. This party now holds the record of being the first time anyone
brought home-still moonshine (thanks for the taste Wayne - and for leaving some behind!). In fact, this party actually holds a double-record - as it was only the 2nd party that YC managed
to forget about and not show up to by mistake! He'd better make up for it by coming bowling this friday...
I'm in training this week for work - can't say it was something I asked for. Oh wait, it was exactly the opposite - but I won't get into that. Only nice thing about it is that I get a free
toolset to keep and a pretty nice digital multimeter - but so far I'm 3 days in and I haven't learned a single relevant detail which pertains to my work.|
Thats pretty awesome, gotta love it when your
supervisor just picks something at random out of a magazine because she spent all the actual education funding on herself. . I'm not disgruntled. Hmmm....to be honest I'm turning more
and more into the type of employee soul_d has always wanted me to be.
So lets see...what else is new? I've pretty much finished all the drywalling in my garage, I sold the Monaco (for a ripe $200), finished fixing the breaks on Shannon's BMW, pushed the Plymouth outside for the
winter and I have yet to drain the carbs on the bike for winter. Pretty exciting stuff, I know. I also bought a bag of 50 gummi treats for halloween and then only had 1 kid, so I've been
chowing down on them pretty hard - they go great with that swish that was left over at the party.
Today, while I was bored during a break in my training, I did something I haven't done for months....I actually visited everyone's blogs. So now I guess I'm up on the times - watch out!!
Shout out to Audiophile for the wicked pumpkins he carved - I've included this picture on the right for your pleasure. If you'd like a closer look, just
click here. Now tell me - can pants be TOO tight? I think not. Well....maybe on dudes.
I know its a bit late - but look to the left for some sexy halloween-related body-art. You're welcome!|
Here's some news: I've recently adopted a new favorite TV series - everyday after work I look forward to watching "Kung Fu - The Legend Continues".
For those of you who haven't seen this show, it is an excellent early 90s tv series dealing with mystic Shaolin monks and corny ass-kickings. It truely is a remarkable show - just ask Dog Pound who loves it too. If you want to know more about the show (I know you do) then this
is all you have to know (I clipped it from a webpage): "The show usually dealt with mystical shaolin dealings but at times had events such as kidnappings and stopping robbers.". Well said. Kwai Chang Caine would be proud.
A couple weeks ago I picked up my new winter beater - a 1979 Dodge Magnum. For those of you who aren't familiar with this type of car, thats not surprising as they only made them for 2 years - but check out this link to see a picture of what it looks like (same color - but mine doesn't have mags). Pretty awesome huh? Thought so. Anyhow
it has a decent 360 motor and a rebuilt transmission with suregrip rear, dual exhaust and a torsion bar suspension. If all goes according to plan, I'll drive this for a winter or two and then transplant the power train into the Plymouth.
Well thats enough about me....if I haven't caused you to flip to another website by now, here are some links to keep you busy care of Blue4130:
- Rafting Tournament on Sex Dolls in North Russia
- Der Schlangemann, the German Ken doll which cums in '3 sizes' - this you have to see
And thats about it for now - I heard some rumour about another party next week for rememberance day - but thats all the details I have. I think its going to be at Dog Pound's house.
|Oct 14, 2004 - Has Been?|
So....that was over a month without an update, how time flies by! What with a trip to Salt Lake City, workin' overtime, shopping for winter
beaters and just generally preparing for winter! Got the boat parked for the season, about ready to pack the bike away in the garage....and a few more sheets of drywall FOR the garage and I'll be done that too. Finally!
So...first and foremost - for those of you who don't know, William Shatner released a new album. I was watching Spike TV the other day when I saw the advertisement and just had to have a listen. After all with a nearly
flawless stream of reviews on amazon.com I had to! And hey, it's not that
bad at all! It's all spoken-word, backed up by such musicians as Aimee Mann, Henry Rollins and Ben Folds and a variety of different musical acompaniment. Some of its funny, some is serious...but its actually pretty good - if you're going to check it out, download
the song "Has Been" - it's hillarious. DO IT!! (Also the whole album is available on suprnova.org) - just make sure to run out a buy a copy too :-)|
And since we're on the topic of awesomness, what a perfect time to show you this. Nice, huh?
Okay, that was mean....but you deserved it.
Man oh man, I was scrolling back through ALL of the updates RBlords has seen since its birth on March 1st, 2000 - I guess we have a 5th aniversery coming up. Anyhow, there's been some pretty good shit on this site compared to
what I post now - really, there was. Perhaps I will have to put together a huge update on March 1st which will celebrate all 489 past updates in all their glory! So I'm sorry for the shitty content lately....well I'm not really, but just
pretend I am.
Well since I kinda feel bad for making you click on that horrible camel toe picture, I'll be nice....click your way through the 'Chicks with Guns' pictures on the right at your leisure, I promise there will be no surpirses. And if thats not your thing,
how about this joke somebody sent me today which reminded me of Blue4130...|
What are 3 things that a woman CAN do that a man CAN'T???
1) Give birth.
2) Have a period.....and
3) Have sex when they're dead!
Now if that doesn't put a spring in your step, what will?
Well I'm running out of steam...I have to get used to actually putting out quality updates again. Well, lets see - Haloween is coming up and once again there will be a bash at my place - so feel free to stop by. There was talk
of a theme, but I'm not sure if anything was decided for sure - and I know *I* will just end up putting together a bargain costume anyhow! I don't think that old Superman costume can live another halloween. Anyhow, the party will be on Saturday,
Oct. 30th - so be there!
Aight folks, thats all I got....catchya next time.
|Sep 13, 2004 - Just a note..|
By the way, the other night while I was trying to update some packages on the server I totally screwed up pretty much everything php-related, which includes the gallery and the forums. Gotta love
how everytime I do a package update, it pretty much destroys my system. Oh well, in the process of fixing everything I was able to find many problems which lead to this disaster, and as a result we've ended up
with a much newer version of the galleries and forums, and a few other utilities too.
And for those of you with rblords-hosted web pages, the stats are working again - and have been upgraded to a new version as well.
Oh, and at popular request - I've removed the awesome Terminator2 midi from the page. You can still run it if you like from here. DO IT!
|Sep 10, 2004 - Catching up...|
Whoops! Almost went a full month without updating there, don't want to fall into that old groove! Or do I? Really, I'm asking you!
Well, a lot of nothing has happened in the last month. I went through a week-long frenzy of playing Doom3 (thanks to Unit3) but now I've finished that. I finished the
book I was reading, so thats done. The weather is still sucking, work is alright. Went to Candle lake last weekend that was pretty cool, missed out on soul_dsoul_d's party so that wasn't
cool....but they were nice enough to think of me when they set off fireworks in my backyard and left them lying on my lawn afterwards.
But thats okay, I'll get Unit3 and Blue4130 back on the way to Salt Lake City next week, by forcing them to
sit on either side of me during the trip, and then crapping my pants and crying the whole way.|
Oh, I know what else I did during the last month - I watched the olympics.....very closely. See the picture on the left to see why. My favorite events included Women's volleyball,
women's trampoline, women's mudwrestling, and men's highjump.
During my spare time I also found a rad-ass midi file to attach to the webpage and be played constantly - hope you like it.
Hmmm just read Demoni.ca and it seems Unit3 is pressuring me into implementing some sort of spam filtering
software on my server, even though he doesn't have a mail account on my server and I happen to love spam - A LOT. I'd like to take this time to announce that I won't be persuaded so easily - in fact I gave
this some thought last weekend at the lake and decided to embrace spam as a friend even more than I did before. Afterall - what has it ever done to me other than fill up my inbox with hilarious penis advertisements and
Oh, I should also mention that I hate Blogger. Why? Because I wanted to 'add a comment' to Fredish's Blog the other day and
it wouldn't let me because I didn't have a blogger account! So fine, I signed up for a blogger account - but apparently you can't have a blogger account without creating a blog of your own! Why? Because they're stupid whores. And because of this a
new (perhaps the greatest) blog was born - Whorebag.blogspot.com. Keep in mind that this site is now obsolete and is no longer updated. However if Unit3 feels the need
to add it to the gateway, he can feel free to use this icon
Thats all I had to say for today - apparently everybody is getting drunk at Dog Pound's tonight so good for us. See you there.
|Aug 17, 2004 - Hot Tub 2K4 cam and went....|
Well folks, its all over - and if you're wondering why its taken me so long to update on the party, just assume I've been spending this time cleaning up the mess! soul_d's prediction
that this would be the tub party to end all tub parties wasn't far from the truth - this year definately broke attendance records, and as well attracted a record amount of police according to any party that *I've* been to.
Another reason I delayed this update was to wait for the pictures to come in. Well, I believe Barb even broke a record this year for the amount of pictures taken during a hot tub party - up from 109
last year, to 248 this year. You can click on the images below to view the full gallery. My only dissapointment is that none of those pictures really show off the total gong show that was Friday night...I'm hoping that either Ian or Vance come up with
some pictures of the 50-60 person crowd in the backyard!
Special thanks go out to our long-distance guests who were able to attend the party this year - and made the journey just FOR the party. This includes our good friend Darren who flew all the way from Chilliwack, Candice from Calgary and Barb from Regina. Also,
Steven's sister Tony (from London) was able to stop by on Saturday night which was a special treat, and she brought me booze!|
I should also thank those who helped prepare for the party this year. Dawn for helping me get the yard ready for weeks prior to the actual event, Vance for helping pay for the burgers and actually grilling them for us, and also for buildling a pretty sweet
bench seat for the 'games area'. Steven and his dad for supplying (once again) the
awesome BBQ AND firepit, Fred for the stools and chairs and condiments, Dallas for building a gigantic burning alien and helping me go through the mp3 list - also for helping repair the foosball table. Thank you Barb and Ian for taking so many digital pics during the party, and a big thanks to Candice for
bringing me my Texas Mickey of vodka all the way from Calgary. Thanks Crystal for the pizza on Saturday, Graeme and Ian for the fireworks show, Ian for contructing the 'death-maze' Sunday night, and finally my neighbors for putting up with the whole ordeal (even though one of you called the cops on friday!), and I-Gene/Eli for
taking the time to at least try and watch us on the shitty webcams! Also Warren for helping me to believe in time machines.
For those of you who weren't able to attend - the party was quite similar to last year's except on a much larger scale. To begin with, in addition to last year's pooltable - we were able to add foosball to the 'games area' this year.
The music was far better organized this year according to what people wanted to hear - and I hope that everybody got the chance to hear at least something they submitted. The webcam broadcast worked pretty slick as I was able
to get ahold of 3 cheap webcams to use - too bad they didn't do so well in the dark! I was also able to come across a fridge for the deck this year, and it looks like next year could use two!
Friday night drew an estimated 50-60 guests in total, with probably at least 45 of them present at one time. I was quite impressed that, despite the large turnout and noise level, everybody stayed within the backyard and there really wasn't any
trouble caused at all. This year nothing went missing, not a single beer-bottle was broken (other than an accident where a few unopened bottles were dropped during transport!) and there was very little mess to clean up other than cigarette butts (there goes your theory about
courteous smokers using ashtrays, Dallas!) and bottle caps.
JayB managed to slice open his head on the corner of the tub Friday night which knocked him out cold and earned him a ride to the hospital (thanks to Dawn's brother-in-law Brad for driving Jason and Linsie there!). I picked up the two of them around 5am and Jason was
doing well, although he didn't come back Saturday night.
The police were called sometime Friday night and arrived around 2:30am. They sent 4 cruisers and, I believe, about 8 police officers to 'control' the party. I think they were surpirsed that we co-operated so well. The majority of the party was cleared out at this
point, with about a dozen people staying behind to close the party down over the next hour. Friday night also had a constant display of fireworks between 11:00 and midnight which continued to light up the sky during that hour - and no doubt probably caused
the call to the police!
Saturday, as it has always been, was a slower night - with only a couple-dozen attendees, but still a good time nonetheless with a few new guests that couldn't make it out on Friday. Crystal was kind enough to order pizza at one point, and Connor, Tony and their group were able
to swing by! Graeme spent some quality time on the trampoline with the blow-up doll and many of us spent some 'quality' time in the hot tub with no pants.
Sunday as promised was a nice laid back party with slightly less guests than Saturday night - but went hard until around 4:30am. Good to see that Ian was able to make it out for quite awhile and contruct his promised 'death-maze' - through which both Ian and myself
crawled, and it almost claimed our lives. Thanks to Tyler and Shauna for making a McDonalds run and picking up cheeseburgers.
In the end, thanks to everyone for coming out and making this years hot tub party the best ever! Its really great to see everyone and I was really honored to find out that so many people took time off from work,
and missed out on other events just to make it out this year. I should thank Dallas, and his dad, for starting this tradition back in 1997 and allowing me to take it over. It's been a lot of work, but a lot of fun - and I plan to keep this going with everybody's help!
As a couple last notes - if anyone else took pictures during this party - I'd love to see them. You can send them to me or drop by anytime - I'm not working this week.
Also, a few people have requested to download songs from the weekend playlist - I've re-enabled the hottub ftp account so you can leech away at it for the time being. You'll noticed the folder is now divided into 3 main folders, the "80's Power Hour", "Prime", and "Sunday". they should
be pretty self-explanitory. There is also the un-edited submission folder if you want to sort through that.
And thats it - I'll post again if any new pictures show up!
|Aug 13, 2004 - For those of you who couldn't make it...|
Just one last note before the big party tonight (and tomorrow night) - I will be setting up a triple-angle webcam portal for those of you who couldn't make it down (especially you, mrp). So just click on the
regular rblords cam image below to open up the cam window. By tonight it should be refreshing fairly often.
And I'll see the rest of you guys and gals in a matter of hours!
|Aug 09, 2004 - Hot Damn thats a lot of music!|
Well folks - as I write this, the hot tub ftp folder has grown to 659 mp3s - roughly 35 hours of music! I must commend all of you for making a huge effort to upload your tunes this year - we've
really ended up with a wide variety of party music. Unforunately, we have about twice as much as we will actually have time to play.
So...I have an announcement to make: the hot tub ftp account will be taken offline effective 5:00PM on Wednesday at which point I will be 'reviewing' the selections. Don't worry,
I'm not out there to cut out a bunch of the music that 'I don't like'....but I will likely need to thin it out (or rather cut it in half). Likely what will happen is that where there are multiple songs uploaded
by one artist, I will have to cut it down to 2-3 songs - stuff like that.
Also, because of the high amount of great 80s tunes uploaded this year - I've decided that Friday and Saturday 8:00-9:00 is going to be the 80s rock hour! This will take care of a lot of the music
which isn't exactly upbeat, but still kicks ass all the same and needs to be heard! There will also be a selection put aside for Sunday night, which will consist of a lot of the slower tunes which just
don't fit in with the hardcore nature of Friday and Saturday night. Hope you guys can live with that! I promise I won't butcher things up that much, but this will help make sure everybody gets to hear at least some
of their tunes!|
Ok, so content wise...I have something that James McKay really has to take a look at - this awesome flash video about the election.
Blue4130 tells me this video
has been under discussion in the Globe&Mail, and has created quite the uproar. Not sure why (they make fun of both the democrats and the republicans quite evenly - and accurately), but either way its still a very well put together piece! Have a look!
Also, there is a new comic today - so check that out.
Also make double-sure to click on that gigantonormous burger up there to see some more pictures of it. The email I recieved with these pictures stated that these burgers are served in a restaurant
in Pensylvania - they are 9lbs and cost $23US. 9lbs!!! Anybody in for a roadtrip to Pensylvania?? Like, tomorrow??
Thats all I really have time to say today - only 4 days to the hot tub party, is everyone excited? It's going to be a good one! Oh, and one more thing...for those of you who
can't attend this year (most noteably mrp - we will be setting up a dual-web camera stream on rblords at the time of the party - so watch for that as well!
